For overall good health, we need to eat all varieties of food, including the three main macronutrients-protein, carbohydrates and fats. We need nutrients from all of these types of foods (including essential fatty acids from fat) in order to run all of our body's cellular processes and to remain healthy. Carbohydrates should make up 40% of all the daily calories we take in.
